Elizabeth's Story
Elizabeth Presberg has a Comprehensive Waiver through the Missouri Department of Mental Health, St. Louis Regional Office.

Liz is 29 years old and was born with multiple disabilities. She uses a wheelchair for mobility and communicates her needs, wants and ideas using augmentative communication, hand and eye movements. Liz uses staff to support her in all areas of daily living.

As a result of the comprehensive waiver, Liz lives in her own home in Kirkwood, Missouri with a roommate and staff support. Liz lives a full life and is very active in the community. She participates in a community integration program. She volunteers in the community at three day care centers and the St. Louis County library. Liz works out twice a week at a local gym. Liz is a member of several groups and organizations including the United Way Torchlighters Speakers Group, St. Louis Arc's Social Justice Self-Advocates Committee and the state and national TASH.

Liz is her own best advocate and provides presentations at the local, state and national level regarding her story and how she and others with disabilities can be full, active members of their community.

She has recently started a blogging about accessible restaurants and other places in the community to assist other people in the community with disabilities.
